About the talk:

It is paramount that attention be paid to any structure as an architectural whole, rather than simply sticking a new shed behind an old facade. Taking existing buildings and reworking them sympathetically to serve new purposes requires much more sophisticated thinking from architects and developers than is in evidence in the hideous structures which manifest this lamentable plague of facadism blighting our age.' The Gentle Author, in his finely illustrated and produced new work, traces the troubling trend that superficially retains the appearance of unique examples of our built heritage while actually destroying the integrity of irreplaceable buildings - all in pursuit of short term gain and 'remorseless greed'.

Those wishing to buy a copy of 'The Creeping Plague Of Ghastly Facadism' on the night will be given a free book from the ever-growing Spitalfields Life Books catalogue.
